    A Foodie’s Guide to Paris

    Share Share Comments comments

Croissants, escargot and frogs legs are just a few foods that typically come to mind when one conjures up images of Paris.

From haute cuisine to street food, in the city of lights you will find the crème de la crème of French food. We know a few people who could spend their entire trip simply eating their way through Paris!

If you’re planning a trip to the City of Love, make sure you take a look at our list of budget to blow out foodie favourites. Bon voyage and bon appetit!!

    BREAKFAST

    Cheap Eats ($) Maison Kayser

Eric Kayser’s boulangeries can be found at a variety of locations around Paris. However, don’t be fooled into thinking this place is just your average bakery chain. Kayser’s breads and pastries are some of the best in the business. Don’t miss French breakfast pastry staples, viennoiseries, which include buttery croissants and rich pain au chocolat.

    Luxe ($$$) Le Roland-Garros

At the site of the French Open, Le Roland-Garros opens its doors every Sunday to host a classy brunch. Soak up the venue’s atmosphere in the leafy garden or sun-soaked terrace while indulging in the generous buffet of pastries, cheeses, hot dishes and salads. Take advantage of the infamous venue and stop off at the courts and the Roland-Garros museum on your way out.

    LUNCH

    Cheap Eats ($) Le Bougainville

After a visit in the morning to The Louvre, continue your cultural excursion by walking a couple of blocks to Le Bougainville, a relatively untouched, chic French bistro. Enjoy the view from the floor-to-ceiling windows while feasting on roasted guineafowl, l’oeuf mayo or their specialty cheeses. The Fourme de Montbrison is a must!

    Luxe ($$$) L’Avenue

Take a break from shopping for haute couture for some haute cuisine at L’Avenue, a chic restaurant only a stones throw away from the Champs-Elysées. Sample the lobster and French fries while settling in for some first-class people watching (the real drawcard of this venue!).

    DINNER

    Cheap Eats ($) Marche Mouffetard

If you’re travelling on a shoestring, take a trip to the 5th arrondissement and explore this bustling, bright and busy street market. Make like the locals and go in the morning to take advantage of the grocers selling cheeses, pastries, seafood and bread. Be sure to enjoy a picnic later in one of the city’s beautiful parks.

    Luxe ($$$) Le Dali

As part of the Dorchester Collection, Le Dali is the charming restaurant of luxe hotel Le Meurice. Head chef Alain Ducasse offers up a carte du jour of chestnut and hen pheasant veloute for entrée, tender veal cheek with grapes and crispy polenta for main and a decadent almond éclair for dessert.
