Welcome to my Icelandic Roadtrip Video #1 – January 2023! This drive starts in Vogar which was our overnight stop near the airport. Driving up the east coast of Iceland on Ring Road 1, through the Hvalfjörður Tunnel. All the way up to Borgarnes, the gateway to the Snaefellsnes Peninsula with Borgarnes Church being the stopping point for this drive!

Welcome to my Icelandic Roadtrip Video #2. This drive is from our little Black House in the early morning light (10am!) through the north west town of Borgarnes for a quick bakery and supplies stop. It’s honestly the most incredible spot for a bakery! Onwards through the stunning Snæfellsnes peninsula with a ‘must do’ stop to feed the Icelandic ponies and on to the beautiful harbour town of Stykkisholmur. Shortly after we reached Kirkjufell. It’s claimed to be the most photographed mountain in Iceland!

This drive had it all! See the sun come up, reach it’s peak and start to go back down on this drive from Borgarnes to Thingvellir National Park. See majestic snow covered mountains, the stunning icy blue Hvalfjörður fjord (whale fjord), a tiny wind storm going over the mountain pass, snow covered roads and barely any traffic around. Destination Þingvellir (Thingvellir) National Park.  Enjoy the drive – getting there is half the fun!
