    Where to stay in Fiji

    Share Share Comments comments

With white sand, clear waters and activities to suit every interest, Fiji promises a holiday experience that you’ll never forget. Whether you’re planning a romantic couple’s escape or a fun-filled family getaway, we’ve put together an introduction to Fiji’s different regions to get you started.

    Coral Coast

With an 80-kilometre stretch of small beaches and bays tucked into the southern end of Viti Levu, the Coral Coast is one of Fiji’s most popular tourist destinations. This unique part of Fiji is a great spot for coral viewing, whether by snorkelling or from a glass-bottom boat. If you’re looking for thrills, the Kula Wild Adventure Park has waterslides, zip-lines and a sanctuary where you can meet some of Fiji’s most exotic native creatures. Offering island-hopping adventures, resort accommodation and plenty of local culture, the Coral Coast is a great choice for a family vacation in Fiji.

    Mamanuca Islands

This chain of exotic islands is a picture-perfect tropical wonderland: one look and you’ll understand why Fijian folklore paints the island chain as magical, and why the islands have been featured in numerous films. The Mamanucas offer some of the best surf breaks in the world, multiple famous dive sites and breath-taking dolphin watching. Whether you’re looking for water-based activities or simply a gorgeous spot to relax, you can find it in the Mamanuca Islands.

    Denarau

Five-star accommodation, fantastic restaurants, cafes and bars, plus an 18-hole championship golf course, Denarau has all the amenities you could wish for, all wrapped up in a luxury tropical setting. It’s also the harbour set-off point for most day trips and transfers to outer islands, and it’s just a short drive from Nadi airport, so a short stay here can also be a great way to extend your holiday and make those onward connections.

    Suncoast

According to legend, the Suncoast is where the first Fijian settlers arrived. Stretching along the northern and western coast of Viti Levu, its grass-covered hills, quaint countryside towns and centuries-old sugar-cane fields are not to be missed. The Vuda Marina makes an ideal starting point for a yacht cruise around the islands, while the Koroyanitu National Heritage Park offers great hiking trails with out-of-this-world views.

    Yasawa Islands

The Yasawa Islands capture the extensive natural beauty of Fiji with white sand beaches, sprawling green hills and crystal blue waters. Featuring every accommodation option from rustic and low-key to utterly luxurious, the Yasawas are excellent for backpackers or as a day trip destination. Go diving with the friendly manta rays on Drawaqa Islands or check out the incredible limestone caves at Sawa-i-lau.

    Savusavu

Those who like to get off the beaten path, a visit to Fiji’s hidden paradise, Savusavu, is a must. Situated on the less-populated Vanua Levu, Savusavu offers gorgeously clear waters and magnificent reefs for snorkellers and divers to explore. Get to know the local culture or check out the world-renowned J. Hunter Pearl farm. Savusavu is home to the luxurious, family-friendly Jean-Michel Cousteau Resort, and is considered by many to represent the very heart of Fiji.
