Luxury brand Belmond has announced a major renovation plan for the 14-room Belmond Splendido Mare. The charming guest house is found in the heart of one of Italy’s most beautiful towns, Portofino. The renovation of the property and its Chuflay restaurant will offer unprecedented luxury on the Italian Riviera.
“We like to work on a transformation of classical space, delving into a storied past to conceptualise its future. Our work for Belmond Splendido Mare cherishes its humble beginning and a cinematic setting of Portofino. The redesign will evoke a stylish home where contemporary and vintage pieces co-exist to provide a timeless feel.” – Charlotte de Tonnac, Co-Founder of FESTEN Architecture.
Located near Portofino’s harbour and the Belmond Splendido Hotel, the Splendido Mare will offer guests wonderful views, discreet guest rooms and suites and luxurious allure. The new design draws inspiration from nautical traditions and the hotel’s modest past. The interiors feature natural woods, ropes and brass, accentuated by the traditional Ligurian colours of amber, sea green and terracotta. For many guests, the bathroom is the real test of luxury and the new design will not disappoint. The bathrooms have been designed to create a calming sanctuary for guests: inspired by the neighbouring ‘Santa Margherita’ beach cabins, the bathroom features white and yellow geometric tiles and pure white marble flooring.
Furniture has been carefully selected, showcasing excellence in craftsmanship and Italian design. Authentic antiques including fruitwood armchairs by Paolo Buffa, and fabric from Italian producers such as Loro Piana and Rubelli will be featured throughout. The lamps are made from Italy’s iconic Murano Glass.
The Chuflay restaurant is a well-known hub of activity – a place where both local and international people gather to sample great food and enjoy the excellent company and atmosphere the restaurant promotes. Its renovation will further encapsulate the essence of Portofino with its rustic yet refined design.
For yacht and super yacht owners, the Portofino Harbour is a magical place to dock.
Miami Beach welcomes famed luxury brand Aman to its shores
Aman Resorts have begun expanding their reach from their typical, tranquil nature-based locations to urban settings and spaces. Following the recent opening of Aman Tokyo and the announcement of Aman New York set to open in 2020 at the Crow Building in Manhattan, Aman have announced another debut. The high-end luxury hotel chain will add Miami Beach to its hotel and resort portfolio in 2023.
Vladislav Doronin, Chairman and CEO of Aman said, “My strategy for Aman places continued focus on developing further urban destinations for the brand, following the success of similar projects such as Aman Tokyo. Aman Miami will give our guests the opportunity to connect with Aman in a culturally rich urban environment, whilst also serving as a gateway to Amanera in the Dominican Republic and Amanyara in the Turks & Caicos.”
Aman Miami will be built on Collins Avenue in the ultra-cool Faena district, on the former site of the Versailles Hotel in Miami Beach. This urban sanctuary is a joint project between the OKO Group and Access Industries, the private investment firm whose holdings include the Faena Hotel Miami Beach. Aman Miami will span across two buildings. The finer design details and number of rooms and suites are still to be announced, but given the brand’s exceptional reputation, the new hotel is sure to wow.
Currently Aman has 34 resorts, hotel and private residences around the world. The luxury hotel group has also announced the Aman Private Jet with custom itineraries combining Aman properties around the world to showcase the culture and scenery associated with Aman’s destinations.
