Known as Australia’s number one Asia travel specialists, Wendy Wu Tours recently launched a new deluxe river cruise ship, the Victoria Mekong. The ship has already embarked on its maiden voyage from Can Tho, Vietnam to Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

Wendy Wu, the company’s founder and chairwoman, was accompanied on the maiden voyage by several distinguished and VIP guests including Gareth Ward, Her Majesty’s Ambassador to Vietnam.

John Warr, Global Sales Director, Wendy Wu Tours, said “the Victoria Mekong is an incredibly exciting addition to our portfolio. The ship has all the deluxe facilities of a five-star ship, with all cabins enjoying private balconies and air conditioning, at the price of a four-star cruise.”

Wendy Wu Tours have worked to ensure the Victoria Mekong is one of the greenest ships on the Mekong. The ship has been equipped with a fresh-water generator which processes river water into fresh, drinkable water. Solar energy is used to help power the ship’s operating systems, and its innovative and high-spec power plant enables a top speed of 11 knots. The elimination of plastic from the ship wherever possible is another key environmental feature.

The 35-cabin Victoria Mekong exudes a stylish and contemporary design, featuring Asian-inspired interiors and exteriors. As such, the ship is already one of the most unique and exciting cruise experiences on the Mekong. State-of-the-art features include a pool with sun deck bar, contemporary Asia-themed bar and lounge with luxurious furnishings, and a signature restaurant with a locally inspired menu showcasing traditional cuisine. The ship boasts 33 spacious deluxe cabins plus two luxurious VIP suites, all with private bathrooms and private balconies.

For the first time, Wendy Wu Tours will offer six itineraries which will sail from the much quieter port at Can Tho Pier. This route allows passengers to explore the off-the-beaten-track areas and experience unique offshore excursions on the Mekong Delta.

Gibbston Valley Lodge & Spa is the talk of New Zealand’s iconic Central Otago wine region. Offering twenty-four boutique villas, a landmark lodge for dining and intimate wine experiences, and a private spa facility, the property is setting new standards within the New Zealand luxury scene.

The lodge has been tailored to suit bike aficionados and wine lovers. With 130 kilometres of off-road biking trails on its doorstep, including a section of the iconic Queenstown Trail, bikers will certainly find their bliss here. For those who prefer to don a bathrobe rather than lycra, the Gibbston Valley Spa has you covered.

Taking cues from Central Otago’s deep history of wine production and quality, the Gibbston Valley Spa will offer vinotherapy treatments that will have you buzzing. The lodge spa acts as a health, beauty and well-being retreat for guests wanting to reconnect with themselves and nature. Treatments include a vinotherapy face and body treatment using different parts of the grape and vine to benefit the skin, the TheraVine™ Luxurious Pinotage & Lime Salt Scrub, a full-body exfoliation that harnesses grape extracts, mineral salts and a citrus infusion to reveal silky, rejuvenated skin, and the Aromavine™ Uplifting Massage where a 100% natural blend of grapeseed, clary sage, rose and jasmine oils will leave guests feeling equal parts relaxed and invigorated.

Other signature treatments include a pampering massage using locally sourced Greenstone and Quartz, a Mud-Detox wrap where warm clay is applied in a full body envelope to draw out toxins, or a variety of tailored packages for individual or couple’s indulgences.

For total relaxation, guests can immerse themselves in one of two open-air hot tubs tucked into the hillside behind the Spa. The hot tubs offer a unique outdoor bathing experience, with uninterrupted views of Central Otago’s ruggedly charismatic landscape.

Whether you’re most tempted by the wine, the rides or the unquestionable luxury of the lodge itself, you’re sure to feel pampered during your stay at this five-star lodge.
