Who doesn’t love Port Douglas with its access to the reef, divine weather and five star accommodation? Sheraton Grand Mirage is a Port Douglas icon and is unveiling a new stylishly refurbed poolside and swim up bar.
The $1 million development, opened in July 2020, will feature light, earthly tones with the use of natural materials. Relax and order a cocktail from your poolside cabana, sun lounger, or swim-up and order from the bar.
The Sheraton Grand Mirage Resort Port Douglas first opened its doors in 1987 as the most sought after five star resort in Australia and has since continued to attract the who’s who of celebrities, social influencers and dignitaries from around the globe. The property underwent a $43 million refurbishment in 2016.
Situated in a prime location the Mirage is the only five star beachfront resort with direct beachfront access in the area, and offering over 147 hectares of tropical gardens and two hectares of swimmable, saltwater lagoons.
JW Marriott hotels are rebranding the iconic Surfers Paradise Marriott Resort and Spa into the JW Marriott Gold Coast Resort & Spa following a $35 million refurbishment. Set to open in December 2020, guests can expect to experience a “new standard of luxury”.
There will be a total of 223 rooms with ocean or hinterland views, six food and beverage venues featuring a Japanese whisky bar.
The resort’s main restaurant will feature a new interactive show kitchen, placing fresh local produce at the heart of its daily menu. Forming part of Citrique, JW Marketplace is the hotel’s café and in-house provedore, serving freshly ground coffees, local produce and healthy and tasty grab-and-go bites. Misono, the resort’s teppanyaki restaurant, will expand to incorporate an ‘avenue’ of new Japanese dining experiences including an intimate Izakaya, tearoom and sushi bar.
Chapter & Verse will transform into an indoor-outdoor lounge and bar experience connecting the resort property with the external lagoons and swimming area – a tranquil lounge by day and a sophisticated craft cocktail bar in the evening.
The resort’s highly celebrated outdoor swimming pools, offering a variety of depths and activations, including the saltwater lagoon featuring over 300 tropical fish, is the heart of the JW Marriott. The Pool Bar will offer poolside dining options and a lounge area for refreshing cocktails, light bites and family snacks.
The resort will continue to welcome guests during the ongoing upgrading of the resort.
