This Summer: Australia’s First Underwater Hotel Opens

Travellers will soon be able to ‘sleep with the fishes’ at the Great Barrier Reef in Queensland. Reefsuites will be located on the soon-to-be-built Reefworld pontoon at the stunning Hardy Reef.

Built in partnership with Cruise Whitsundays, the project will give guests the chance to sleep overnight at the reef, either above water or in one of the underwater reef suites. There are only two underwater rooms available, making this an exclusive reef experience.

The suites feature premium bedding and floor-to-ceiling views of the Great Barrier Reef. The experience is all inclusive, with all meals and (most) beverages. A private guided snorkelling tour and semi submarine tour also available.

The team behind this project have worked closely with the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority to ensure its sustainable instillation. They have also achieved the ‘largest natural coral transplant’ undertaken on the Great Barrier Reef, with over 4000 successfully removed from old moorings and replanted.

Reefsuites are set to open this summer.
