    News bites – March 5 2019

    A Star-Studded Stay

What do Marilyn Monroe and Howard Hughes have in common besides a rumoured love affair? The Beverly Hills Hotel of course! Well… sort of… two new luxury bungalows inspired by the stars have recently been unveiled by the Dorchester Collection hotel.

For generations, the hotel has been a favourite amongst celebrities. Of the 21 bungalows being renovated, five are inspired by some of the hotel’s most notable guests over the past century.

The other three bungalows, which were unveiled in 2016, are influenced by Elizabeth Taylor and Frank Sinatra; to follow later in 2019, a Charlie Chaplain-inspired bungalow.

Showing off its curves, the Marilyn-inspired bungalow is classic: youthful and glamourous. With a Chanel No. 5 fragrance bar, a Champagne Bubble Bath Experience and a Marilyn-themed food and drinks menu on the cards, you’ll be feeling like a star in no time.

The Howard Hughes-styled bungalow is a little more geometric, with darker tones and rich wood throughout. There are model aeroplanes and an aviation themed cocktail to be enjoyed in this room.

Although already unveiled, the bungalow restorations are still receiving their finishing touches – both are expected to be ready for guests by July 2019.

Warm tones, wooden and wicker furnishings and a hint of teal: the Crystalbrook Collection’s  Riley – a luxury, five-star hotel in Cairns – has announced the opening of Eléme Day Spa. Its design and products are inspired by the natural surroundings and represent a space for complete relaxation.

Two of their top treatments are:

    • The Goddess of Infusion – a thermal facial mask using volcanic clay to deeply cleanse and hydrate the skin.
    • The Great Herculean (shout out to the boys) – a body scrub, massage and facial therapy, inspired by your inner superhero.
    • There are five luxury treatment rooms to choose from, and even a spa safari which lasts up to five hours, working to relax you from your toes to your head.
    • The spa is a first for the Crystalbrook Collection, but certainly won’t be the last, with the incorporation of the spa brand planned in future openings.
