  • See the World’s Most Breathtaking Sights by Helicopter

There are some places in the world that can’t be appreciated on land the same way they are from above – it would be like only seeing Mona Lisa’s smile and nothing else, or one star in van Gogh’s Starry Night. With a scenic helicopter flight, you can see the full picture, and truly know the beauty of mother nature.

    Victoria Falls, Zambia and Zimbabwe

There is a two-kilometre sheet of waterfall that separates Zambia and Zimbabwe. Described as, “scenes so lovely they must have been gazed upon by angels in their flight” by David Livingstone in 1855, the falls make for an incredible site from above.

The renowned ‘Flight of the Angels’ by Zambezi Helicopters will take you soaring into the sky. Although the helicopter tour only last 12-13 minutes, there is ample opportunity to see the falls and the Batoka Gorge from every angle, and those wanting a more personalised experience can book a private charter flight.

    The Great Barrier Reef, Australia

The Great Barrier Reef stretches 2,300km along the coast of Queensland, Australia. Home to a plethora of marine wildlife and coral forests, the Great Barrier Reef is a remarkable sight. While many dive to see the beauty below the surface, few experience this exceptional reef from above.

There are plenty of companies that run helicopter tours over the reef. The deluxe reef explorer scenic flight with GBR Helicopters offers an exceptional experience, flying off the coast of Cairns over Arlington Reef. This reef is great for spotting turtles, dolphins, and if you’re lucky, whales.

    The Grand Canyon, USA

The Grand Canyon is over 445 km long (277 miles), an awe-inspiring sight formed from millions of years of erosion by the Colorado River. What would a holiday to the USA be without a scenic flight above the Grand Canyon?

Helicopter tour company, Papillon, offers a private tour of the Grand Canyon and the Las Vegas strip: starting with a limo ride to the luxurious EC-130 helicopter, it’s a tour that is set to ‘wow’. Experience the Grand Canyon’s Western Rim from above before landing on a private plateau overlooking the Colorado River, then finish with an aerial view of the Vegas Strip and a limo ride back to your hotel.

    Denali National Park, USA

Most people know about Africa’s ‘Big Five’ but what about the ‘Big Five’ in Alaska? The remote Denali National Park is home to moose, caribou, grizzly bears, wolves and dall sheep. The national park stretches into the far reaches of Alaska and features glacial rivers, gorges, taiga forests, alpine tundra environments and the country’s tallest peak – Denali.

Taking a casual stroll through this vast park unfortunately won’t get you very far. By far the best way to experience Denali is with an aerial view, and Temsco Air offer two exclusive Denali Helicopter Tours: the Denali Glacier Landing will have you walking on the massive Yanert Glacier, while the Tundra Express provides the opportunity to see the mountains just outside Denali National Park and view Denali, Mt Deborah, and local wildlife.

Allure of Tuscany offer two helicopter packages: Heliski Dolomites will get the adrenaline pumping, taking you off the beaten path into the soft snow terrain on the high peaks and valleys, while the Dolomites Private Helicopter Tour will see you fly around some of the highest peaks, with beautiful landscapes and valleys below.
