Everyone can book a flight and a hotel online in ten minutes. So why bring in a Toowoomba personal travel manager at all? I get asked this question a lot and here is my honest answer.
Sometimes, on a single flight or a single hotel room in isolation, yes. Where it falls apart is the whole trip. A booking site shows you options, it does not tell you that the hotel you have chosen is a long taxi ride from where you actually want to be, or that the cruise cabin category you have picked has a partially obstructed view, or that your flight connection barely leaves enough time to clear customs. I put those pieces together as someone who has actually travelled to over 30 countries, lived overseas for years, and sold a great many holidays, not as a search algorithm sorting by price.
Not in the way most people assume. Whether you book with me or book it yourself, you pay the same price.
Where a service fee applies (usually for time consuming quotes), this is deducted from the client’s final invoice. It’s disclosed upfront so there are no surprises.
A website cannot tell you that the balcony cabin on deck eight is quieter than the one on deck nine because of the nightclub below it. It cannot hold your hand at 2am when your connecting flight is cancelled in a country where you do not speak the language. It cannot build a European itinerary around how much walking your parents can comfortably manage, or tell you which cruise line actually suits a family with young children rather than a couple on a honeymoon. That is the work.
This is where a personal travel manager earns their keep. If a flight is cancelled, a cruise itinerary changes, or a supplier runs into trouble, you have a real person to call, not a call centre queue reading from a script. I am also backed by the TravelManagers client trust account, so your money is protected through the booking process, which is not something every booking site can promise.
If it is genuinely simple, a short flight and a hotel you already know, probably not. When it pays off is anything with more than one moving part, multi city itineraries, cruises, group travel, honeymoons or destination weddings, where one wrong assumption can be expensive to fix later.
Because a client who has a disappointing trip does not come back, and does not send me their friends and family either. My business is built on Toowoomba word of mouth, not one off bookings, so my recommendations are built around what will actually suit you, not which supplier pays the highest rate.
If you have a trip coming up, simple or complicated, let’s talk before you book it yourself. As your local Toowoomba personal travel manager, I will tell you plainly if you are better off booking it yourself, and build you a proper plan if you are not.
