About me

Hi, I’m Suzanne Kienzle and I wish to tell you a little story about my journey so you can really get to know me.

Firstly, who are you dealing with?

TravelManagers is a network of experienced, home-based travel agents across Australia, offering personalised travel planning backed by a national support team. As a Personal Travel Manager, I run my own business with the freedom to customise experiences for my clients, while accessing the buying power, technology, and resources of a trusted travel brand.

Why me?

When I was 8 years old my folks took me to Fiji and instantly, I fell in love with the people and culture. At that moment I knew I wanted to explore more of the globe. So, I said to Dad “well if I can’t be a zoologist and spend my days talking to gorillas then I want to be a travel agent”. So, Dad being Dad, took me to Taronga Zoo in Sydney and we spoke with a Zoologist who quickly discouraged the career choice and warned “if you are ok with shovelling sh*t for the first 6 years of your career then it may not be for you”. We must have got her on a bad day. TRAVEL AGENT it is! My family were encouraging but nervous knowing it is hard to make $$ in the industry and constantly trying to justify your job to people can be deflating. I know their concerns came from love.

So, with my drive & passion, I still set out to start my career in Travel and work in a wonderful industry and meet amazing people from all over the globe.

 My Top Travel Highlights;

• Trekking the infamous Kokoda Trail in Papua New Guinea with family
• Working and living in Brampton Island & Broome
• Driving a mustang through the big volcanic island of Hawaii
• Swimming with Great White Sharks in Cape town, South Africa by choice!
• Becoming a qualified Safari Guide FGASA in a private game reserve Kruger NP
• Almost being proposed to on Table Mountain Cape town but ran out of water.
• Finally getting engaged in Central Park New York
• Going to a Tailgate party before a huge Philadelphia Eagles game
• Disneyland LA, Disneyworld Orlando, Disneyland Tokyo
• Being an extra in the Hangover III in Vegas getting married out front Bellagio Casino
• Road tripping through Western Canada and stopping for Elk & Grizzlies sightings.
• Feeling numb after Kava ceremonies in Fiji & Vanuatu.
• Going on my sister’s honeymoon and helping caretake a French Chateau in Loire Valley.
• Solo travel through France/Spain/Monaco dock walking to get work on Superyachts
• Becoming sole stewardess/deckhand on a private yacht in Spain and travelling the med for 4 months.
• Seeing the orangutans & proboscis monkeys in the wild in Borneo
• Seeing my kids light up learning to snowboard in Japan

My history, my legacy.

Papua New Guinea and Kokoda will always have a soft spot in my heart. My wonderful mother Robyn Kienzle wrote a book about my grandfather Captain Bert Kienzle “The Architect of Kokoda” The man who made the Kokoda Trail and I am on a mission to get Eric Bana to play my grandfather in a mini-series or movie? I will go into detail in a blog post.

Over 20 years, I have worked for the bricks and mortar travel agencies, government organisations and now home-based travel advising operating my own business. Travel advising isn’t just my career it’s my lifelong passion, shaped by family history, adventure, and a love of discovering the world.
