As one of the seven states that make up the United Arab Emirates, Dubai is without comparison. With a unique style of architecture centered on sleek colossal structures, Dubai will leave you scratching your head in amazement. One of the cities infamous seven star hotels is the Burj Al Arab, a beacon of luxury accommodation. Mimicking the shape of a ship’s sails, the world’s fourth tallest hotel towers over the city from an artificial island. The skyscraper, stands at 322 metres tall, cost $70,000,000 to build over a five-year period.

The interior juxtaposes eastern and western influences to dramatic effect, with delicately mosaicked bathrooms and Solomonic columns. The most lavish room in the hotel, with the exception of the $20,000 a night Royal suite, is the Jensui lounge. 29,000 individual Swarovski crystals have been embedded into the ceiling, designed in the shape of the Milky Way.

The 60 storey Burj Al Arab has a private beach, water park and four different swimming pools. The serene infinity pool stretches over two levels and provides expansive views across Dubai. In addition, the hotel contains nine different restaurants, each with their own theme and strictly enforced dress codes.

Despite a mammoth structure, the hotel only accommodates 202 suites, with each guest given a 24-carat piece of gold on checking in. Gold is the order of the day at the extravagant resort, to the extent at which each cappuccino is laced with the precious metal. Transfer options include being private chauffeured in a helicopter and, as if this isn’t enough, guests can take advantage of 1,600 butlers.

Fine details enhance the already extravagant levels of luxury, with eiderdown quilts in every room. Eiderdown quilts are filled with eider duck feathers, of which only 2,000kg are collected annually.
