Your day(s) in Mana Pools National Park are dominated by the river. You wake to the river’s sounds and the soft light on the water. Glide down the river in a sleek canoe, silently approaching wildlife to observe serenely. You may choose to explore on foot or by motorboat as well—yielding essentially exclusive sightings in the park. Of course, game drives are available to you both day and night. Veteran anglers and novices alike will delight in some of the finest Tiger fishing in the world—it’s pretty thrilling to catch your own dinner and have the chef cook it up! Top off your days with a candlelit dinner on a sandbar in the river or another mind-blowing location in this gem of a park.

Somalisa Expeditions is set in the heart of the Hwange National Park and is known as the land of the giants for its big elephant herds. Consisting of 6 simple but luxurious Meru style tents, all en-suite with flush toilets and running water. The main area is on raised decking which overlooks a small elephant pool frequently used as a ‘mud-bath’ and a popular rendezvous for the elephants.

Each day in Hwange National Park is a day well spent. This vast park is stunning—full of varied terrain and a staggering diversity of wildlife and bird species. Game drives can last all day with a beautiful picnic spot or you may choose to venture out in the morning and then the afternoon with a lovely siesta in between. The park’s predators are mesmerizing, and you might be fortunate to spy lions, leopards, or wild dogs. Should you opt to explore on foot with your guide, you are likely to cross paths with herds of elephant and other plains game like zebra, impala, kudu and wildebeest. In the evening, unwind and relive your day in the comforts of your camp under the brilliant starry skies.

Thorntree River Lodge, Standard Room for two nights
Thorntree River Lodge is set in Zambia’s Mosi-Oa-Tunya National Park, just a short distance from the famous Victoria Falls. Drawing inspiration from local customs and culture, Thorntree is a modern contemporary design with tented roof structures to maintain the feel of authentic Africa. The lodge boasts eight twin rooms and two family units comprising four beds each. Each unit includes indoor and outdoor bathrooms, as well as a luxurious private plunge pool. The main lodge consists of a lounge with an open dining area, where the fine dining experience of African cuisine will come to life. Flight of Angels – 13-minute Helicopter excursion.
See the world from a bird’s-eye view, flying over the Zambezi River, the Victoria Falls and the surrounding gorges. Zip through the spray from the Falls, sometimes billowing up to 985 feet (300 meters) high. With luck, dodge rainbows and pillow-like clouds. This excursion also gives you a greater understanding of the zigzag gorge system and how it developed – it also ideally complements a ground tour of the Falls and its surrounding rainforest. Come back to Earth with your heart racing and your mind full of incredible images from soaring through the sky.
This morning you will be transferred by road to Livingstone Airport in time to check-in, clear customs and immigration, and board your flight to Johannesburg. Upon arrival in Johannesburg, connect on your own with your homeward-bound flight. International flights from Johannesburg should depart no earlier than 6pm.
