In the European summer of 2023, I embarked on a wonderful trip to Athens in Greece, and its breathtaking Riviera.
The Athens Riviera is the coastal area in the southern suburbs of Athens, stretching from Piraeus to Cape Sounion in the south-east region of Attica.
There’s definitely more to see and experience in this part of Greater Athens than the historic and charming city centre.
The scenery was simply stunning with its crystal-clear waters and picturesque beaches, offered a perfect escape from the city’s hustle and bustle.
I spent my days lounging on the golden sands, soaking up the sun, and taking refreshing dips in the azure sea.
In the evenings, I explored the charming coastal towns that dot the Riviera.
Each sea-side town had its own unique charm, with quaint streets, lively waterfront promenades, and a plethora of seafood restaurants.
I indulged in delicious meals while enjoying panoramic views of the sunset over the Aegean Sea.
The main sea-side towns in this region cover the Bay of Zea, Flisvos Marina, Glyfada, Voula, Vouliagmeni, Lagonisi, Varkiza, Anavyssos and Sounio, each enriched in its own beauty and character.
It was truly a magical and memorable travel experience.
My trip to Athens and the Riviera was a perfect blend of history, culture, gastronomy, and natural beauty.
I returned home with memories that would last a lifetime and an eternal appreciation for the overall rich heritage and warm hospitality of Greece.
