Travel really can transform. Since my first trip overseas in 1977, I’ve been continually amazed and intrigued by the unique sights, sounds and tastes of different countries, customs and cuisines. Each travel experience is a journey of discovery; of colours, textures, and the chance to form lasting connections with people of other cultures. Each trip is another thread that gets woven into the rich fabric that is travel. I started travelling when I was 18 years old and never stopped! When I left home (New Zealand) I spent seven years working and travelling in the United Kingdom, Oman in the Middle East and Papua New Guinea in the South Pacific. When my children were young, we moved to the Gold Coast (Australia). Travel was still a big part of my life so when the family was settled, I studied and obtained a Diploma in Travel and Tourism and began a formal career in the travel industry. For the past 30 years I’ve worked as a travel consultant covering all modes of travel to destinations across the globe. During that time I’ve also worked as a product representative, providing education and support to the travel industry.
I’ve travelled throughout all continents, both for leisure and as part of my role as a travel consultant. I’ve developed a special interest in adventure travel – from backpacking to five-star – in countries such as China, Japan, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Europe and South America.
