A Ship Inspection at Brisbane Cruise Terminal
Are you wondering what’s new on the revitalized Crown Princess after her major 2025 drydock? With the ship now sparkling at Brisbane Cruise Terminal, I joined a special ship inspection to explore the upgraded venues, innovative features, and the guest experience you can expect for the Australia season and beyond.
Quick Summary:
A Fresh Perspective: My First Impressions
Stepping aboard Crown Princess on a sun-kissed day at Brisbane Cruise Terminal, I immediately felt a contagious wave of excitement. The ship was buzzing with happy guests, gleaming from her recent upgrade, and the crew’s warm greetings made coming aboard feel like a celebration.
What’s New After Refurbishment?
O’Malley’s Irish Pub:
Replacing the Wheelhouse Bar, this inviting space is the heart of the ship’s social scene. O’Malley’s pairs classic comfort food (think hearty burgers, fish and chips, late-night snacks) with a robust beer and whiskey menu, including curated flights. Seating for 134 means there’s plenty of room, whether you’re joining the crowd at the bar or settling in for toe-tapping live music. The pub’s design is both spacious and intimate, making it a natural gathering place.
Gatsby’s Casino:
The casino received a glamorous overhaul: upgraded gaming, a refreshed layout, and a focus on guest comfort. It feels both lively and approachable, perfect for a bit of fun between dinner and a show.
EFFY Lounge & High-End Vault:
Jewellery lovers will appreciate this elegant new retail space, which replaces the old Internet Café, and offers a stylish atmosphere for browsing.
General Public Area Refreshes:
Throughout the ship, subtle upgrades, new furnishings, finishes, and layouts create a modern, comfortable feel while retaining the ship’s classic charm.
The Sanctuary: Adults-Only Retreat
Seeking a quiet moment? The Sanctuary remains an unmatched adults-only haven. Tucked away from the ship’s more energetic spaces, it’s perfect for unwinding with a book, a drink, or just soaking up the sun in peace.
Princess guests can pre-book access to The Sanctuary from $40 per person for a half-day, or from $80 per person for a full day. A daily pass allows guests to enjoy multiple visits to The Sanctuary during their allocated time.
Dining: Main Dining Room Highlights
Our inspection included a three-course lunch in the Main Dining Room. Every course exceeded expectations:

The Staterooms on Crown Princess are well appointed, clean and tidy, offering a comfortable retreat at the end of each day.

Service That Goes Above and Beyond
Our host, Tyrone Jost (State Manager: QLD, NT & Northern NSW), was a highlight in himself. Having spent two years working aboard Crown Princess, Tyrone’s deep knowledge and enthusiasm brought the ship’s spaces and stories to life. His personal insights and recommendations made the experience feel exclusive and welcoming.
Atmosphere & Vibe Onboard
Because it was embarkation day, the air was charged with holiday spirit. Crew members lined the walkways, offering cheerful welcomes, while guests explored and settled in. There’s a unique energy on Crown Princess, one that blends anticipation, friendliness, and a sense that you’re in for something special.
