Sunday 9th May is Mother’s Day in Australia, and as always during COVID times, NSW’s borders are expected to be open for everyone to enjoy a seven-wonder stay. Luxury is at the top of the menu for pampering all yummy mummies no matter their age, so feast upon some of these destinations with an array of offerings for every taste.
1. Luxury staycay on Sydney’s Northern Beaches

You don’t need to travel far to discover some of NSW’s most beautiful beaches. A Northern Beaches luxury escape complete with scenic walking tracks, al fresco dining and a waterfront stay would satisfy the fussiest of mothers. Settle in at Jonah’s at Whale Beach, then explore Palmie as the locals call it with its spectacular Barrenjoey Lighthouse walking track.
2. Wine weekend in the Hunter Valley

Say sante, Slainte or plain old cheers to a mother who likes a tipple on a wine tasting weekend in Australia’s oldest wine region, the Hunter Valley. Book a stay at Spicers Guesthouse in Pokolbin, and visit nearby cellar doors, Tyrell’s Wines, Audrey Wilkinson and Bimbadgen who is offering complimentary Mother’s Day tastings. Adventurous mums will love a sunrise hot air balloon ride over the vineyards with Balloon Aloft, followed by a sparkling breakfast at Peterson House.
3. Alpine adventure in the Snowy Mountains
Mount Kosciuszko is another destination for those who like a bit of adrenalin pumping through their veins. Think mountain biking, bushwalking and hiking. Stay at the chic cabins at The Eastern in Thredbo, take a scenic chairlift ride on the Kosciuszko Express Chairlift, and ride horses through untouched bushland with Thredbo Valley Horse Riding. After, celebrate with sparkling over a Mother’s Day Lunch at Cascades Restaurant. Alternatively, plan ahead for winter and take Mum cross-country skiing or snowshoeing through the alpine terrain.
4. Soak up the sun in the Tweed

The Tweed offers uncrowded beaches to sub-tropical rainforest and the ever so cool retro Halcyon House at Cabarita Beach complete with Halcyon Spa. Take a river cruise through the heart of the Tweed Valley with Tweed Eco Cruises or snorkel with sea turtles at Cook Island, off the shores of Tweed Heads, with Watersports Guru.
5. Riverside road trip along the Murray

The Mighty Murray River Drive is one of the lesser known NSW gems. This road trip revolves around the river, from the country towns it sustains to the golf courses and wineries it waters, with some of Australia’s most significant Aboriginal history along the way. Your stops might include a whisky tasting at Corowa Whisky and Chocolate, a ride on a historic paddle steamer in Moama, and visit to World-Heritage listed Mungo National Park.
