That time of the year rolls around so quickly doesn’t it? It’s time to plan your New Year’s Eve celebrations. We asked our personal travel managers to list their favourite Australian spots to ring in the New Year; from harbour-side firework displays to communing with nature, there’s sure to be an option for you.

    1. Sydney Harbour, NSW

As one of the biggest and most spectacular in the world, Sydney Harbour’s fireworks display is certainly an experience to tick off your bucket list. Sydney is also the first major city in the world to ring in the New Year. With a view that includes the iconic Sydney Harbour Bridge and Sydney Opera House, it’s no surprise that more than a million people gather at the shores to witness this stunning event.

    1. Falls Festival in Marion Bay, Tasmania

Falls Festival is an ideal way to see in the New Year if you’re a music and arts fan. Moving your feet to talented acts from around the globe, Falls Festival in Marion Bay is set on a gorgeous stretch of land, hosting an ephemeral festival village atmosphere. And what makes the festival so special is that it’s an all ages event, appealing to visitors young and old.

    1. Lorde Howe Island, NSW

For an intimate and relaxed New Year, head to this World Heritage-listed island 500 kilometres east of Port Macquarie. Ring in the New Year with DIY bonfires on the beach and, for the more adventurous at heart, a dip in the ocean at dawn.

    1. Hobart, Tasmania

Foodies will love the Taste of Tasmania New Year’s Eve Party is the place to be. Hobart’s waterfront comes alive with a cool mix of music, fresh Tasmanian produce and the finest beverages. There’s also street performers and roving entertainers to keep you buzzing with excitement before the big countdown. See the skies light up during the fireworks display at 9.30pm and midnight.

    1. Melbourne, Victoria

Cosmopolitan travelers should visit Melbourne’s Yarra River and cruise along the Docklands. The best way to do this is to hire private boat with friends or book a ticket on a party boat. If seafaring isn’t your style, Melbourne’s rooftop bars also offer excellent views across the city and often host special parties and events, leaving you free to concentrate on the countdown.
