While it’s always nice to take a break, sometimes travel is a necessary part of life. However, even if it’s for work, these cutting-edge hotels ensure that you can mix business and pleasure in the best possibe way.

    The Mira – Hong Kong
The Mira is distinctive for its futuristic design, with space-age silver couches and tables lining the lobby, and a choice of red, greeen, silver or blue colour scheme for the rooms. Business travellers will love the ‘My Mobile’ feature. Designed to ensure that a call is never missed, this service transforms the hotel room phone into that of a mobile service. The Mira is also conveniently located to take in all the sights of Hong Kong within a short time frame, with the Museum of Art, Star Ferry, the Space Museum, the Avenue of Stars and Victoria Harbour all just a few minutes walk away.

    The W – New York
The W Hotel in New York is the perfect option for those travelling on business who like to pack light. Upon request, the W can provide you with your own laptop with accessories for the duration of your stay. In addition, there’s also the hotel’s motto of ‘Whatever, Whenever’, when it comes to getting that important job done on time – they’ll have your documents scanned or printed, that crucial meeting planned, in a matter of minutes, anytime and every time.

    The Bloomsbury – London
If you’re one of those people who simply cannot face the day without a hot cup of good coffee, then look no further than the Studio Suites at the Bloomsbury Hotel in central London. Each of these studio apartment-style rooms is set up with a state-of-the-art Nespresso coffe machine, for you to enjoy a delicious brew, all from the comfort of your workspace whenever the fancy takes you.  Once you’re ready to start the day, take advantage of the Bloomsbury’s unique meeting facilities, for a conference with a difference. There’s meeting facilities at the hotel library, the walls lined with beautiful, grand old hardback editions, and for something truly special, guests can even hold meetings in the hotel’s old-style Chapel.

    The Portman Ritz-Carlton – Shanghai
This hotel has been catering to the business crowd for many years – and it shows. The Ritz-Carlton offers so many facilities, services and amenities at your fingertips, you really never need leave. Within the hotel itself, there are 6 restaurants, a supermarket, medical clinic and several cafes and bars. There’s no need to stress about a technology meltdown at the worst possible time, as the Ritz-Carlton offers 24-hour technical support for all your technological gadgets. After a hard day’s work, you can do all your unwinding at the Ritz-Carlton too, with a luxury health spa offering a range of relaxing massage and treatment options.
    The Fairmont  – Singapore
Location is crucial when it comes to a great business hotel – you don’t want to be spending hours travelling to and from meetings, so convenience is key, and the Fairmont in Singapore is right at the heart of the action. It’s right in the middle of the business, entertainment and shopping districts – work, rest and play with ease. The Fairmont is also a great choice for large-scale business events – the grand ballroom alone can host more than 3,000 people, and the hotel itself has in excess of 750 rooms, ensuring all executives can stay on location.

    Crowne Plaza – Canberra
Travelling for long periods at a time can be difficult at times, being away from loved ones and staying in unfamiliar surroundings. The Crowne Plaza Canberra have recognised this, and offer a ‘Long Stay’ option, for those staying in the nation’s capital for a week or more. Basically, this feature allows guests all of the best features of self-contained accommodation, and the special luxury of a hotel room. There’s an extra room and lounge area for relaxing, extended kitchenette facilities for cooking, as well as access to all the hote’s facilities and the business centre.

    InterContinental Hotels – United States
Maintaining a healthy and consistent exercise routine can be difficult when you’re constantly travelling, with odd gym opening hours and the inevitable jetlag dampening the energy of even the most enthusiastic fitness fanatic. The InterContinental hotel group are rolling out a new hotel chain, EVEN, with a focus on health and fitness, to make keeping in shape easy. As part of the design, hotel rooms will be fitted with compact fitness equipment, for a complete workout, in the comfort of your suite. The design is the first of its kind, with a luggage rack doubling as a workout bench, and the reinforced coat rack performing double duty as a pull up bar. Each room will also be supplied with a yoga mat and a fitness guide, explaining exercises that can be performed without having to leave the room. The first EVEN hotel is due to open in the US next year.
